Ironman Canada Goals

Here are my goals for Ironman Canada. I'm putting them on the blog so that everyday I'll be reminded of what I'm working toward.

How to achieve world class fitness!!

Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.

Run/Swim

Today I did a one hour run with some interval work in the middle. I got about 2 miles out from work when my body started saying, "please, please can we go home and cut this short." My mind however said "cool it you wuss" and we completed the workout as planned. It's never easy to workout when your body is telling you to slow down. Actually I did slow down from my last run but just a little. I did a total of 1:00:20 today with 5 x 800m sprints in the middle. I covered 7.82 miles which gave me an overall pace of 7:43 per mile. I also ran while drinking my accelerade drink. I mixed it in concentrate form then drank water to mix it in my tummy. Worked great! More experiments with nutrition in the future.

I eventually made it to the Fleet Rec 50 meter pool. However, since I was running late I only had time for 45 minutes. So here is what I did: Warm up 300m free, 400m pull, 300m free, 200m pull then 8 x 100m, times up! I only timed the 8 x 100m laps and my average time per 100m was 1:42. Swimming is so exhausting and now I'm sitting in bed barely awake. At least tomorrow I'm doing a 5 hour bike!

Have a nice day!!
