How to achieve world class fitness!!

Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.

Today I did a tempo run. What does that mean? Well it means that I ran at race pace. However, since I ran my tempo run at a max HR of 139 bpm it really means I have slowed way down from my normal race pace. Remember (I keep telling myself this) that over time I’m suppose to get faster at this lower HR. I’ll give this a go for a few months and see what happens. Anyway, today I ran 5.4 miles in 44:16 for an average of 8:16 minutes per mile (yes I know I’m just burning up the road). My average heart rate was 137 bpm.

Have a great day!
